Zombie Werewolf

Well, my brother gave me a couple of his really awesome werewolf skulls and I finally had some time to play. I decided that I wanted my werewolf to be a zombie and started slapping clay on there. I still have a long way to go, but I think that the skull speeds things up a lot for a slow sculptor like me to get as far as I did in only 3 hours or so. Anyway, here are some pictures. :P
I want to work on the mouth to get it to look snarlier<sp> and less smiley. So much fun to work on this one. :P
My internet connection has nearly dissappeared, so I'll have to edit this later to add more pics.

Dance of the Dark Queen

Here are some pictures of another in progress sculpt.
As you can see, she is far from finished. I still need to cut the armature wire on the arms and add some tubes so that I can make them removable for molding after the sculpt is finished. As for the raised leg, I want to cut that lump of epoxy off flush so that the leg can also be more easily removable.
I still need to make a headpiece and the rest of her hair. These will also be separate pieces for molding.

Some of the anatomy turned out good enough that it almost seems a shame to have to cover it with clothing, but what kind of queen dances around half naked? Oh well, I have to figure out how to sculpt draping fabrics sooner of later...
Hopefully the flowing fabrics will add a more dynamic sense of movement to the sculpt. I think the pose itself shows some of the movement, but I really want to build on that with the outfit.
The face has been the biggest challenge for me so far. She has come a long way, but I am still working on getting the expression just right. I have made some changes already since these pictures were taken. The nose is a little smaller now than it was, and I fixed a few small problems with the symmetry of the cheeks.
I guess it's hard to tell from the photos, but the distance from the eyebrows to the bottom of the chin is about the size of an american quarter. The full sculpture stands about sixteen inches.
I'll post some more pictures soon, so bookmark my page or subscribe to recieve updates.
Also, feel free to leave comments. I love feedback, good or bad, as it helps me to improve my work. If you want to see some really good sculpture, go see my brother's work here: http://www.thebrothersbad.com/gallery.html
and check out some of the work on the Shiflett brother's forum as well:

General Kong

This is one of my sculptures in progress. General Kong is going to get the story treatment too, so you'll have to check back periodically and I'll post new pics of the sculpt as well as info when the Story becomes available.
As you can see he is far from finished, but I think the anatomy is coming along nicely. Hopefully I'll get back to work on this guy soon. Oh, and the story will explain why he has such small legs. :P
I originally had a more apelike nose, and I think I will be reverting to that. For some reason the more human nose doesn't seem to work as well with his apeskull.
Eventually he'll have some pants too, you'll have to excuse the bare bottom.

Trainer of the hounds

The Trainer of the Hounds is currently a short story based on a sculpture that my brother did. The short story is curruntly available as a small booklet at the Brothersbad website: http://www.thebrothersbad.com/index.html
You can also purchase the sculpture in resin kit form there as well. I will be uploading the story to kindle for 99 cents in the next day or so for those of you who do the e-book thing.
I have begun work on the full length novel. The first two chapters will be an expansion of the short story and a whole new adventure proceeds from there, so if you read and enjoy the story check back here for updates and I'll let you know when you can expect the book.

Welcome to my blog

Hello, and welcome to my blog. This is where I will be documenting the progress on my various projects. I am currently writing a novel, working on several sculpts, and playing with electronics, as well as working a full time construction job, so I may not post every day. However, I will try to post as often as I can and include plenty of photos, so if anything you see interests you, check back from time to time and tell a friend or two about my work. You can also check out the Brothersbad website here: http://www.thebrothersbad.com/index.html and see what my brother and I are cooking up.
